2011-05-27: updated with dates and locations of flight 2010-03-23: wrote first version of this README.txt Notes on images in kique_D80-Card1_101NIKON. These images are by Carlos (Kique) Romero and are provided with his permission without cost for any purpose. The images are provided in both the original .NEF NIKON raw format and, as a convenience, converted to PNG and JPEG. There are 619 images in this aerial sequence, each 3039x2014 pixels in size. These were taken from a handheld NIKON D70 camera through the aircraft window from 9:05 thru 10:21am on Sept 22, 2008. The sequences include some usable 360 degree looks at certain blocks, with a fair amount of traffic visible and high enough frame rate to allow tracking tests. The sequence includes areas with bodies of water, trees, an industrial port area, freeways, some multistory buildings, along with bridges and other structures with interesting, non-box-like shapes. The PNG and JPEG conversion was updated May 27, 2011 to use dcraw, using version 9.08, with the parameters "dcraw -c -w +M -q 3 -m 1 -4", followed by a gamma correction in the imagemagick convert utility using parameter 2.222 for the JPEG's. I have not tested whether the -m1 caused the images to look a bit fuzzy or not -- experimenting with the dcraw parameters may yield better results. Cheers, --Mark Duchaineau duchaine@cognigraph.com
